I’m another year older and what a surprise, I’ve spent another birthday in the Cotswold’s. I’m not sure if it’s a tradition or habit but there aren’t many places two hours drive from Cambridge that are as beautiful or romantic as the Cotswold’s. Guy took me away for a little treat and our first stop was Daylesford.

Daylesford

A beautiful farm shop, cafe and B&B just outside Stow-on-the-Wold. The food was fab, service was wonderful and the surroundings, atmosphere and decor were spot on. The biggest downside was the price of the goods in the shop. Let’s just say that everything was double the price that we saw in other local shops which was disappointing but not surprising.

The Porch House

And after a bite to eat it was off to my main birthday surprise: a nights stay in The Porch House, a beautiful B&B and restaurant that is also Britain’s oldest Inn. What a delight. My husband chose room 1, the best room in the place (it was my birthday after all) and it really was beautiful.

"The Porch House is known as one of the best places to eat in Stow-on-the-Wold, our customers often tell us that we have one of the best restaurants in the Cotswolds."

Stow-on-the-Wold

We did a good amount of wandering around Stow-on-the-Wold itself, chatted to the locals, visited a few local shops including the Cotswolds Chocolate Company who sell the most delicious handmade chocolates that we watched being made!

And then it was back for a bite to eat. The food was delicious however we were slightly disappointed with their selection of cheeses. I am a total cheese snob but even though the cheeses were really lovely they were a very safe option (see, told you I was a cheese snob!)
